After the success of the Government of India’s Aarogya Setu App, the Delhi Government has also launched an app for fighting against Corona Virus/COVID-19. The app is called Delhi Corona. Chief Minister of Delhi Mr. Arvind Kejriwal announced the launch of the Delhi Corona App through a live stream.
“We are launching an app today which will give everyone the status of hospital beds and ventilator availability in Delhi,” said Mr. Kejriwal. He also said that people are complaining about shortage of beds and ventilators, but in reality there are around 4100 beds still vacant in Delhi hospitals. He further added that 210 out of 302 ventilators in Delhi are still vacant.
As you can clearly figure out from the words of CM, the primary purpose of the app is to provide real-time information to the people of Delhi about the status of hospital beds and ventilators available for COVID-19 patients all across the Union Territory.
Other than that, the app also provides valuable information that will help keep people informed in case they need any help related to COVID-19. The CM highlighted that the app will be very beneficial to people who are looking for healthcare facilities offered by the government as well as private hospitals in the Capital. The app is created in such a way that it makes it easy to find healthcare facilities.
Right now, the Delhi Corona app is available for download on Google Play Store for Android Devices only.
Apart from helping to find healthcare facilities, the Delhi Corona app also provides other relevant information like:
- Giving information for essential services that may be required during the lockdown period. These services might include hunger/shelter relief information, ration, and e-pass.
- Information related to all live containment zones.
- All government orders related to COVID-19.
- A chatbot is also added to the app which can help in self-assessment for possible COVID-19 infection.
The Delhi Corona app also connects the people to a Whatsapp chat with an account named “Delhi Govt – Corona Helpline.” The description of the chat account mentions that it is “Official WhatsApp Helpline of Government of NCT of Delhi for authentic updates on Corona.”
Currently, the Delhi Corona App is being updated twice a day at 10 AM and 6 PM.
The Delhi Corona App seems useful since right information is very hard to find these days in so much chaos. But, only the test of time will tell whether this app really gives us any advantage in our fight against Corona Virus.
