It took Aarogya Setu only 40 days.

Government of India’s Covid-19 contact tracing app Aarogya Setu has crossed 100 million downloads just after 40 days of launch, making it one of the fastest-growing apps globally. To recall, the Aarogya Setu app had crossed the 50 million download mark on April 15, which was also one of the fastest in the world.

The information regarding 100 million downloads came via multiple reliable channels. The official twitter handle of Aarogya  Setu app informed about it via the below shown tweet.

Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant also took to Twitter to announce the number of registrations received on the app. He wrote “#Aarogya Setu crossed 100mn registered users. Thank you India! We fight together, we stay safe together!”

Although the app was made as a voluntary app for the citizens to download, many government and private institutions like India Railways have now made it mandatory to download it if anyone wishes to use their service. Earlier this month, the government made it mandatory to download the app for all private and public sector employees who are active on duty.

As far as the performance of Aarogya Setu app is concerned, it is doing really well. It is said that the app has alerted almost 1.4 lakh users about the possible risk of coronavirus infection due to their proximity to infected people. The app has also played a crucial part in identifying almost 700 hotspots all over India.

The App has been designed and developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology through Public-Private partnership under the guidance of National Informatics Centre.

It won’t be wrong to say that this is still only the tip of the iceberg. If we really want to defeat the COVID-19 virus, then we must understand that for a population that is way more than a billion, only 100 million downloads won’t do much help. Hence, we request all our readers to kindly download the app as soon as possible if not already downloaded.

Some people are also concerned that the app is essentially a surveillance app and hinders with the privacy of citizens. We at Instatechnews would really request you to not believe in such rumors. The government via IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has already clarified in a Twitter video shared by the minister himself. He informed that the user data is accessed only by GOI and it is stored in a highly encrypted server. He also informed that the app assigns all users with an anonymous ID. Only this ID is used to interact with the server and no personal information is used anywhere.

Hence, in conclusion, we can only request you to have trust in the government and give all your support. We will get many chances to criticize the government or protest against any other thing that we might think is a wrong step. But, now is not the time for these things. The problem is huge and we can win only if we fight together as one.

P.S.: We at InstaTechNews pray to almighty that you and your family are safe and doing well in these extraordinary times. COVID-19 has stopped the world in a sense and times like these are particularly hard for the underprivileged. We appeal to all the people who are capable enough to help these people in any way they can. Until this Corona virus crisis is over, kindly follow the guidelines of the government and strictly observe Lockdown.

Remember, together we can and we will. Cheers!!!!
